Seventy organisations inspired the next generation of professionals at HSDC’s Higher Education & Employment Fair last week.

More than 1,000 students attended the annual event on 29 September, which gives the chance to find out more about specific university courses, apprenticeship programmes and volunteering opportunities.

Many representatives from universities and employment sectors said how ‘impressed’ they were with the event, held at the Havant Campus. Dan Nelson from the University of Exeter said: “We go to events like this across the country, they are key to keeping good links with schools and colleges.

“I have been really impressed with how knowledgeable the students’ questions have been and have really enjoyed the event here.”

Graham Waton from the University of Bath said: “It has always been a really good event at HSDC, I have come down here with a stand the past three or four years.

“The students have clearly done their research and are already really knowledgeable about what they want to do.”

Sue Holly, Head of Careers at Havant & South Downs College, said: “The Higher Education & Employment Fair has been running for many years at the College and we are fortunate to have built up a fantastic reputation for the event.

“The College is really proud of our amazing students.” – Sue Holly, Head of Careers

“It is a confusing time for students with the many exciting opportunities available to them and events such as these allow them to build up contacts, gain advice about their next step and talk to people who can help and inspire them from the world of university, employment, volunteering and apprenticeships.

“This support works in conjunction with the work that is already being delivered by the careers and teaching teams across the two campuses.

“About 1000 students attended on the morning across both sites and the feedback from the delegates was really positive with many comments about how enthusiastic, well-prepared and interested the students were and what a credit they were to the College.

“The College is really proud of our amazing students.”
