Do you want to work in areas such as cardiology, radiography or respiratory medicine? Are you interested in carrying out medical examinations on patients such as X rays, ultrasound, CT or MRI scans? Then this is the course for you!
This T Level qualification is an exciting new full time course which has been designed in partnership with businesses and employers. It is aimed at giving you the knowledge and skills to move into a career in healthcare which is the UK’s largest employment sector. It is designed to enable you to progress to employment in hospitals or healthcare settings or to move on to study in Higher Education.
This course covers:
– Learning about the huge range of jobs that you can move into as a healthcare professional
– Learning about the different types of clinical tests and measurements and how to use the equipment
– Learning about different types of imaging used by medical professionals such as X rays, MRI scans and ultrasound scanning and how this information can be used for diagnosis and treatment
You will need to complete a minimum of 315 hours of industry placement over the two-year duration of the course.
Five GCSEs at grade 4 or above, including English Language, Mathematics and Double Science (or Triple Science) or Level 2 in Science with a Distinction, alongside GCSE grade 4 or above in English Language and Mathematics. Alternatively Level 2 in Health and Social Care with a grade B or distinction, alongside GCSE grade 4 or above in Science, Mathematics and English.

Industry Placement
You will need to complete a minimum of 315 hours of industry placement over the two-year duration of the course. This unique experience will provide you with the opportunity to develop the right skills, knowledge and behaviours in the workplace which will prepare you to move directly into employment in your chosen sector.
This course will be taught in a combination of learning environments. Some lectures will take place in science laboratories, whilst others will take place in state-of-the-art facilities set up as hospital wards and healthcare settings. Hightech medical and clinical equipment will be used to enable you to understand the range of equipment used by healthcare professionals and how to use this equipment yourself.
Externally assessed exam, industrial placement, employer-set project and synoptic assessment in a healthcare setting.
On completion of this course, you will be able to go directly into employment as a Healthcare Assistant. You could also undertake a higher apprenticeship as a Healthcare Science Associate which includes roles such as Phlebotomist (taking blood), Cardiographer (monitoring the heart) or a Newborn Hearing Screener (assessing hearing in newborn babies). Alternatively, you could go on to study in Higher Education in degrees such as Radiography, Nuclear Medicine or Cardiac Physiology.
