You will be required to purchase a laboratory coat and goggles at the start of your course as these will be essential items required when conducting practical activities.

In the first year of the course, you will be assessed on your knowledge of the core elements through two examinations.

Section A exam – This covers the content about working in the Science sector

In the second year, the occupational specialist elements are assessed by assignments. These assignments will provide a grade that is Pass, Merit or Distinction.

This course allows you to achieve UCAS points allowing you to apply to study a range of science-based courses at university. It also provides you with the laboratory skills to go straight into work within the science industry or to move on to an Apprenticeship.
