This course is made up of five modules, focused on a range of business disciplines applied to the process of buying, procurement, supply chain, and the handling of suppliers and contracts. If you already work in procurement, or if you wish to embark on a procurement career, CIPS qualifications will help you progress as they are recognised across the industry. It is recommended as a one year study programme and provides a solid introduction to essential principles of business strategy such as Finance, Economics, Contract Law, Distribution and Business relationships that can be applied practically in a work setting and prepare you to advance to Level 4 study if you wish.
There are no formal entry requirements for the Level 3 Advanced Certificate; you can begin your studies at this level.
This Level 3 Advanced Certificate is made up of the following units:
The course is delivered on a modular basis, one subject at a time, through weekly evening classes. New students can join at the start of any module so there are several opportunities to begin at different times throughout the year. Exams take place upon completion of each module, usually every other month. Course content is delivered in a blend of classroom-based lecture, guest speakers, group discussion and guided self-study using materials published on the HSDC virtual learning environment. Learning resources include textbooks, news reports, business case studies and material published by CIPS.
Each module is assessed by a formal computer-based examination.
Following the completion of the CIPS Level 3 Advanced Certificate, you can go on to study the CIPS Level 4 Diploma. This can lead on to the CIPS Level 5 Advanced Diploma which, in turn, leads on to the CIPS Level 6 Professional Diploma and MCIPS status.
HSDC maintains close links with the South of England branch of CIPS, who provide guest speakers and student representatives. The local branch hosts regular professional development events including their annual general meeting, which is held at the South Downs Campus, to which CIPS students are invited.
