The Professional Diploma covers financial team leader skills, including financial statements for limited companies, complex management accounting tasks, management skills and specialist learning areas.Students should choose the Level 4 Diploma in Professional Accounting as it maximises opportunities for employment within a wider accountancy context. In developing this qualification, AAT has carried out extensive consultation with and received input from a wide variety of stakeholders, including industry experts, employers and training providers. AAT qualifications benefit from being globally recognised and they’re valued by leading employers, from small high street firms to large accountancy businesses.

You will require an AAT Advanced Diploma in Accounting (Level 3). However, other relevant qualifications/experience will be considered on a case by case basis and discussed at interview.

This qualification comprises three mandatory units and two specialist units.The mandatory units are:• Applied Management Accounting• Drafting and Interpreting Financial Statements• Internal Accounting Systems and ControlsThe optional units are:• Business Tax • Personal Tax • Audit and Assurance• Cash and Financial Management• Credit and Debt Management

Accounting principles on this course will be taught in a classroom environment. Using simulations, e-learning and other teaching materials. Each module will be taught simultaneously alongside another module.

You will be assessed by computer based assessment after each module (excluding Accounting Systems and Controls) – results are published by AAT 6 weeks later. This qualification also includes a synoptic assessment drawing on and testing understanding of connections between the four mandatory topics covered across the qualification.

For students who wish to become chartered accountants, the study of AAT qualifications may also offer exemptions from the exams required by a range of chartered accountancy bodies.
