Suitable for those who have candidates to assess within the workplace as part of a quality framework to show progression of candidates over a period and be able to differentiate using a variety of assessments strategies. A minimum of two candidates including special requirement arrangements is essential for two of the three units you will study on this course.
In order to be considered for this course an informal interview will need to be undertaken with a member of the Adult Learning Team at the Havant Campus.
Each unit will comprise of a training session, tutorials, professional discussions, assessments and observations and is designed for those who wish to assess occupational competence in the work environment. It is intended for those who assess vocational skills knowledge and understanding in a range of environments ie workplace, classroom or other training environments.
The course comprises of three units, which are studied individually:
Unit 301 – Understanding the Principles and Practices of Assessment This unit can be undertaken as a standalone unit as it is a knowledge-only award for those who are starting their journey as an assessor, or for those who need to know about assessment practice but who are not currently practicing e.g. a starting point for aspiring assessors or a professional development qualification for managers, HR or quality assurance personnel.
Unit 302 – Assess Occupational Competence in the Work Environment This unit is for practitioners who assess the demonstration of competence in a work environment using the following assessment methods: observation, examining work products, oral questioning and discussion, use of others (e.g. witnesses), learner statements and Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL).
Unit 303 – Assess Vocational Skills, Knowledge and Understanding This unit is for practitioners who may use all the above listed assessment methods based upon sound assessment principles.
At Havant and South Downs College an experienced and qualified tutor will guide and support you through the complete programme as both your individual tutor and assessor. You will build a portfolio of evidence to demonstrate practice, observation of practice and professional discussion.
