This course has been developed in response to emerging industry trends and the skills and knowledge requirements of employers. By achieving this nationally recognised qualification, you will gain a valuable understanding of:

  • Principles of Management and Leadership
  • Managing a Team to Achieve Results
  • Building Stakeholder Relationships Using Effective Communication
  • Contributing to the Delivery of a Project
  • Managing Daily Activities to Achieve Results
  • Managing Budgets and Resources
  • Managing Data and Information
  • Managing Own Personal and Professional Development

This course is very much a mix of shared experiences and offers a variety of learning and teaching approaches including tutorials, workshops, presentations and group discussions. You will have access to the dedicated Level 3 Google Classroom with resources such as videos, talks, questionnaires and presentations. You will also have access to CMI Management Direct, an online management resource portal.

Each unit lasts between 3-4 weeks, 3 hours a week, at the South Downs Campus. This course is 'roll-on, roll-off' which means you can start at any point in the year at the start of a new unit. This also allows for flexibility around life, allowing you to take a break for a short period of time, as you can easily pick your studies back up.

This course is assignment-based and will be assessed through assignments set at the end of each unit. Each assignment is somewhere between 2000-2500 words, of which there are eight assignments over the duration of the course.

This ensures you minimise time away from work and that you undertake work study which is relevant to your own organisation’s context.

You can progress onto a Level 5 qualification in Management and Leadership, as well as opening up promotional opportunities by having a recognised qualification.

Your lecturer and tutor for this qualification is from an industry background, having studied with CMI at Level 5 across management and leadership, coaching and mentoring and also CIPD at Level 7. A fully qualified FE and HE lecturer teaching for both HSDC and the University of Portsmouth.

You will be joined by a mix of learners from industries from the local area including manufacturing, construction, retail, early years and education, to name but a few.

The teaching has been really good, I’ve loved all of my teachers, they’ve all been really nice and supportive.

Jodie Hook

Everyone at the College was really helpful, and there’s lots of facilities, meaning it’s very easy to get your work done on time, and get good grades. The teaching and support was excellent, they were always on top of it, and made sure you got work done on time and you were challenged. Everyone is friendly and its really diverse, meaning you can get involved in lots of different things.

Conor Ward, BTEC student

I would say it’s a college that really balances academia with fun, there is lots of extra-curricular stuff that you can get involved in. It has a really good work/life balance.
