Overview

This free, fully online Level 2 qualification is ideal for individuals who want to start or advance a rewarding career in the care sector.

You’ll gain the essential knowledge and practical understanding needed to provide high-quality support in adult social care settings. Key topics include maintaining health and safety, effective communication, understanding consent and managing challenging situations with confidence and professionalism.

By successfully completing this course, you’ll achieve a nationally recognised Level 2 qualification, showcasing your dedication and competence in providing compassionate, person-centred care for vulnerable adults.

Please contact adultlearning@hsdc.ac.uk for specific entry requirements. To enrol on this Adult Learning course you must be aged 19 years or over.

  • Unit 1: Principles of communication in adult social care settings,

  • Unit 2: Principles of personal development in adult social care settings,

  • Unit 3: Principles of diversity, equality and inclusion in adult social care settings,

  • Unit 4: Principles of safeguarding and protection in health and social care,

  • Unit 5: Introduction to duty of care in health, social care or children’s and young people’s settings,

  • Unit 6: Understanding the role of the social care worker,

  • Unit 7: Understanding person-centred approaches in adult social care settings,

  • Unit 8: Understanding health and safety in social care settings,

  • Unit 9: Understanding how to handle information in social care settings.

Once you have enrolled on the course, you will be allocated a tutor and assigned to your learning platform. An induction will follow and then you will be able to commence your course.

You will be assessed by submitting individual units of work and will receive feedback for each unit as you progress. There is no final exam.

On completion of this course, you will be ready for the workplace or have enhanced your existing work skills. You could progress on to any other distance learning course or look at the Level 3 options.
