Overview

A professional Accounting/Tax Technician will be responsible for creating, verifying and reviewing accurate and timely financial information within or on behalf of an organisation, in order to meet relevant ethical, professional and legal standards. Ethics and integrity are fundamental to the role, as are the regulations that govern accounting and tax – all of which you’ll learn during the course of the Apprenticeship. As a professional Accounting/Tax Technician, you’ll develop an understanding of and learn how to apply professional standards and legal regulations to an organisation’s financial information, and to complete the fundamental principles of integrity, objectivity, professional competence and due care and confidentiality.

Our expectation is that all Apprentices should already possess English and Mathematics to a GCSE grade C/4 or equivalent. However, we will consider applicants without these grades subject to an initial assessment with one of the Apprenticeship Team.A Level 3 qualification in a similar sector or significant experience is also required for this qualification.

Day release consisting of one day a week at the South Downs Campus and four days a week at your place of employment with a monthly Assessor visit. Typical Course Duration – 18 months and 1-3 months End Point Assessment period.

Apprentices can be taught via classroom delivery, work based learning/assessment and vocational “on and off the job training”. This is always dependent on the course requirements, the preferences of the business and the wishes of the learner.

Portfolio including reflective statement and role simulation.

Completion of the Professional Accounting/Tax Technician Apprenticeship may lead to the candidate receiving credits towards Chartered Accountancy/Taxation qualifications provided by the relevant Professional Bodies.Completion of the Professional Accounting/Tax Technician Apprenticeship may also result in credits being awarded towards relevant undergraduate degree programmes.

Opportunities may exist to gain professional accreditation in your chosen field post completion of the qualification. Your Assessor will support you with information on gaining professional accreditation. As we work with Apprentices that are already employed, if you attend our day release programmes you will mix with a diverse range of businesses with Apprentices in the same sector.
