This Level 5 qualification is right for you if you are a practising or aspiring manager/leader and would like to learn with others in similar positions. If you are accountable to a more senior manager or business owner, this course will support you to lead a team, initiate a project, manage your resources, adapt to change and support your development.

If your primary role is to lead and manage individuals and teams to deliver the aims and objectives in line with the organisational strategy, this course will support you in doing just that.

Experience of working in a management/supervisory role is essential. There are no formal entry requirements for this qualification however a Level 3 management qualification is desirable. Math and English GCSE at grade C or above (4 on the new grading system) or Functional Skills are advisable.

This course has been developed in response to emerging industry trends and the skills and knowledge requirements of employers. By achieving this nationally recognised qualification you will gain a valuable understanding of:

  • Principles of Management and Leadership in an Organisational Context
  • Principles of Developing, Managing and Leading Individuals and Teams to Achieve Success
  • Managing Stakeholder Relationships
  • Managing Projects to Achieve Results
  • Managing Change
  • Creating and Delivering Operational Plans
  • Managing Finance
  • Using Reflective Practice to Inform Personal and Professional Development

This course is very much a mix of shared experiences and offers a variety of learning and teaching approaches including tutorials, workshops, presentations and group discussions. You will have access to the dedicated Level 5 Google Classroom with resources such as videos, talks, questionnaires and presentations and CMI Management Direct, an online management resource portal.

Each unit lasts between 3-4 weeks, 3 hours a week at the South Downs campus. This course is 'roll on, roll off' which means you can start at any point in the year at the start of a new unit. This also allows for flexibility around life, allowing you to take a break for a short period of time, as you can easily pick your studies back up.

This course is assignment based and will be assessed through assignments set at the end of each unit. Each assignment is somewhere between 3000-4500 words of which there are eight over the duration of the course. This ensures you minimise time away from work and that you undertake work study which is relevant to your own organisation’s context.
