We’re looking forward to you joining the Health & Social Care BTEC National Extended Certificate Level 3 at Alton Campus in September! In preparation, we have created the below prep work for you to get stuck into over the summer and to give you an idea of what is to come for you on your course.
Individuals with additional needs experience a number of personal challenges and barriers in their lives; these can be down to their health conditions and the attitudes of people and society. With careful planning and support barriers can be broken down, resulting in positive and supportive practice being implemented to help people live inclusive and fulfilling lives.
Explain the importance of promoting equality and diversity for individuals with different needs. Consider this for the three people identified below:
Explain the skills and personal attributes (qualities) necessary for a range of people (including professionals) who care for and support individuals with different needs – you may wish to reflect back on Activity 1.
‘Explain’ means to give an account of the purposes or reasons: ‘What, how, why…this is important because’.
Note: Identify the sources of information you have used i.e., books, journals and reliable and relevant internet sites.
