Digital : IT Support Services & Infrastructure T Level at South Downs Campus

It is useful to have a good appreciation of different operating systems in use within the IT sector. You are required to investigate the current range of different operating systems and the different demands of the device they run on.

The following activities will help you improve your research skills and provide useful background research.

Using the three links below you are required to compare Windows, Mac and Linux and create a short report that answers the following questions:

  • What are the good points of each?
  • Which would you prefer to use and why?
  • Why do operating systems require different interfaces if they are on a tablet, laptop or computer?

Research information about market share, which operating systems are used most in business and are any particular operating systems used in specific industries.
