If you are a part time student in receipt of an income based benefit, you will be able to join the College’s Part Time Financial Assistance Scheme. The scheme ensures that everyone can successfully participate in education by removing some financial barriers.
The Student Travel & Support Team are here to offer support and guidance to all part time students. We can provide information and advice for financial supports towards the cost of:
Students aged 19 or over on 31 August 2019 and who are studying a level 1 or 2 part time programme, or are aged 19+ and do not have a full level 3 or 4 qualification (up to the age of 24) and receive an income based benefit or are the unwaged dependent of someone who is in receipt of an income based benefit (please see the application form for the list of benefits accepted).
Please apply as soon as possible as funds are limited and cannot always be guaranteed. Please complete the part time financial assistance form and hand to Student Travel & Support (opposite Reception at the South Downs Campus, opposite Study Central at the Havant Campus and in the Student Hub at Alton Campus). A member of the team will inform you if you are eligible for the scheme or whether more evidence needs to be supplied to complete your application.
This form will need to be completed every time that you are claiming for travel expenses towards public transport fares. We will require the dates of the classes attended, the course venue, the total cost incurred for that time period and the tickets must also be attached to the form. Attendance will be checked on every form – any non-attendance will not be paid for. Please speak to a member of the Student Travel & Support Team if you require any assistance.
Part time students may also order a bus pass online via the Stagecoach or First Group mTicket app. This bus pass will be at a discounted price for students. The student will need to pay for the pass at the time of ordering online – No further financial assistance will be given towards the cost of this bus pass. Please see following instructions of how to order your bus pass online. Your details will be checked to confirm that you are a student attending the College.
Part time Students may also order a train pass. The train pass will be at a reduced cost (compared to standard priced fares). The student can order a train pass via the College’s online payment system, WisePay, under the Train Section. The student will need to select the train station they are travelling from and to. The pass must be paid for via WisePay. Once paid, the College will be notified, and we can start to order the pass. If you do not know your WisePay login details please contact the main Finance Office on 023 9279 7991, press option 6.
