Why come to Alton Campus?
Alton Campus is the ideal place for students from overseas to come and benefit from everything that life in the UK has to offer. The campus is modern and well equipped, providing students with the ideal facilities to support their studies.
Alton itself is a quiet rural town just over one hour by train from London and close to the historic cities of Winchester and Portsmouth to the south. In the nearby village of Chawton can be found the 17th Century House where one of England’s greatest novelists, Jane Austen, spent the last eight years of her life.
All of our international students are housed with local families, where they will take part in family life, eat meals together and be able to practice their English in friendly surroundings.
Students can choose to study A Levels in the standard two year programme, or for some depending upon ability and subjects, the Fast Track One Year programme.
Accommodation for international students is provided by local families in our Homestay Programme. Students will live in the heart of an English family within a short journey of the Campus. They become part of the family, sharing main meals with them and participating in family leisure activities.
This is an excellent way to practice English and to reap the maximum benefit afforded by studying in the UK.
Please note that we can only offer Homestay Accommodation to students from overseas (outside the EU) who are enrolled on full time courses through our International Programme.
International students can apply for any Level 3 courses offered at Alton Campus. Most will be studying A Levels, which provide the best route to many of the best universities in the UK. All international students will also be automatically enrolled on an English Language programme to help them make the most of their stay here.
For a list of all A Level courses available, click here.
Fast Track 1 Year A Level courses are also available in a limited range of subjects, for more able and gifted students. Students wishing to take this programme may choose any three from the following subjects: Maths, Further Maths, Physics. In addition, all Fast Track students will be automatically enrolled on an English Language programme.
Students applying for an A Level programme must meet our entry requirements of 5 GCSEs at Grade C (9-4) or above, to include Maths, or equivalent qualification if studied outside the UK.
Applicants must also be able to demonstrate English ability by holding a valid IELTS (Academic) score overall of 5.0 or above. Please note, applicants for the Fast Track programme will need an IELTS score of 5.5 or above.
Skype interviews will also be held before we make any formal offer and prior to issuing a Certificate of Acceptance for Study (CAS), which will be needed for your student visa application.
Please note that in order to comply with visa regulations and our current Admissions Policy, all applicants wishing to enrol must be aged between 16-19.
All A Level two year programmes cost £9,000 per year. This includes tuition for all chosen subjects in addition to a programme of English Language. Books and other learning materials may be payable, depending on the courses chosen. Please note that this fee does NOT include examination fees, which may vary according to the subject.
The fee for a Fast Track One Year programme is £12,000. This includes tuition for all chosen subjects, in addition to a programme of English Language. Please note that this fee does NOT include examination fees, which may vary according to the subject.

HSDC is establishing close links with a number of Chinese High Schools. Students and staff have taken part in exchange visits and we had a very successful international student intake programme running with Xinghua High School in Jiangsu Province. In this programme, selected students followed A Level classes in Xinghua, supported by Alton Campus staff, prior to coming to Alton for their final year and finishing their A Levels with us.
We also run individual student recruitment programmes for both two year and Fast Track one year A Level courses in partner cities such as Shanghai, Nantong, Zhenjiang, Taizhou and Xinghua.
