Overview

Our Fast Track route is for those students who have achieved their Mathematics & English qualifications. The Fast Track course allows you to complete the course in six months (September until the end of March), so you can be ready to fly in the summer season.

If you would like to work as a member of air cabin crew or part of the airport ground crew team, this course will give you the knowledge and skills you need to succeed.

As a learner you’ll undertake training at the British Airways Training Base, completing a range of practical exercises including emergency evacuation procedures.

You’ll learn aviation operations, airline health, safety and security, emergency procedures, crew room duties and ground operations. In preparation for interviews with airlines, you’ll also participate in an airline mock interview day at one of our local partnership hotels.

You must be a minimum of 17 years of age to enrol on this course. You must have 4 GCSEs at grade 3 or above to start this course. You must also have a grade 4 or above in English Language and Mathematics.

On this course you will study:

  • An introduction to airline/aviation operations
  • Airline health, safety and security
  • Airline emergency procedures
  • Crew room duties
  • The role of air cabin crew (onboard)
  • Preparation for employment as air cabin crew
  • The certificate in ground operations

All of your lessons will be delivered by industry experts; our staff have previously worked for a range of airlines including British Airways, First Choice and Virgin Atlantic. Two members of the cabin crew teaching team are still working in the industry, one at Southampton Airport and the other works as senior crew for British Airways.

On this course, you will experience a range of teaching methods including role plays, videos and creating your own presentation, to name a few.

Progress will be assessed through a portfolio of evidence, observations, examinations, role plays and case studies. Special components will be assessed offsite during a trip to an Airline training centre. This will include safety and emergency training procedures in ditching, fire & smoke and slide deployment. This is compliant with all UK airlines, approved by Civil Aviation Authority standards. This trip is compulsory.

This course requires you to purchase a uniform and kit.

We include trips to enhance your learning and experience of industry. All of
these costs will be explained at interview and students in receipt of financial
assistance will be supported with these costs.

Successful students will be able to apply to work in the airline industry.
