Apprenticeship programmes vary greatly dependant on sector area and level, however all set out clear knowledge, skills and behaviours that support employment needs.
At HSDC, we deliver up to degree level, across several sectors and our team can work with you to design a package of training and qualifications to meet your business needs.
Below are the qualification levels we offer:
LEVEL 4/5
HIGHER LEVEL (FOUNDATION DEGREE EQUIVALENT)
Apprentices work towards work-based competencies and knowledge in order to achieve the Standard or Framework Qualifications at Level 4/5, such as an HNC & Level 4/5 Diploma, and any required Functional Skills.
LEVEL 3
ADVANCED LEVEL (A LEVEL EQUIVALENT)
Apprentices work towards work-based learning competencies and knowledge in order to achieve either the Standard or Framework Qualifications such as a Level 3 NVQ, and any required Functional skills.
LEVEL 2
INTERMEDIATE LEVEL (GCSE EQUIVALENT)
Apprentices work towards work-based competencies and knowledge in order to achieve the Standard or Framework Qualifications at Level 2, and any required Functional Skills.
Anyone aged 16 or over can become an Apprentice, even those with a degree can now retrain in a subject that is materially different from their original degree. The focus of an Apprenticeship is to develop industry specific skills. It is about the skills you need to learn, not the skills you already have.
Apprenticeships generally last between one and six years depending on the level and based on the Apprentice’s competence and experience. It is now possible to achieve degree and master level qualifications through an Apprenticeship.
Most Apprenticeships involve a combination of classroom taught sessions and work-based assessments to evidence skills in practice.
As an employer, you are required to commit to 20% off-the-job training for both new Apprentices and existing staff starting an Apprenticeship to learn new skills. This requirement can be met by a number of different methods, including attending classroom taught sessions, spending time shadowing different departments and higher level positions, conducting research and working on assignments and portfolio work.
You will be involved in the shaping of the Apprenticeships for your business. For organisations that have a number of staff looking to upskill, HSDC will work with you to develop a bespoke Apprenticeship delivery model on your premises to meet your business needs.
