Last summer, the HSDC Restaurant was given a new name and a new look. We look forward to seeing you at 74 South in the future.

Enjoy fine dining on campus

Our fully-licensed fine dining restaurant at South Downs Campus, called 74 South, is staffed by our talented Catering & Hospitality students and open to the public. It’s an opportunity to enjoy high-quality, freshly prepared food while also supporting what we do here at the College. Every task is performed under the guidance of qualified and experienced Catering & Hospitality lecturers to ensure a first-class fine dining experience.

We have The Angela Hartnett Academy at the College. This provides strong partnerships with Angela and her chefs who come down throughout the year to work alongside our aspiring chefs to create culinary delights for our lucky customers. During Angela’s visits, she supports the teaching team, inspiring them with new ideas and dishes and keeping them on top of the current trends in the industry. We are extremely grateful for the work experience Angela provides for our students in exquisite, well-respected hotels and restaurants such as Limewood – New Forest and Murano – London

In the past, we’ve welcomed top chefs such as Heston Blumenthal, Marcus Wareing, Tom Kerridge, Nathan Outlaw and Philip Howard to the restaurant facility. They’ve given us their seals of approval for what we do, so why not come and sample the experience for yourself?

Michelin Star Chef Visits 74 South

Past and present students from our South Downs Campus were delighted to take instruction from guest chef George Blogg, who works at Michelin star restaurant Gravetye Manor. Please note due to a planned kitchen refurbishment, currently, the restaurant’s last lunch service this academic year is on the 5th of May. We hope to have reopening details on the webpage before the summer break.

Lunch Menu 4:

Days: Tuesday, Thursday & Friday 7th February to 10th March (closed half term 14th to 17th February)

Times: 12pm & 12.15pm

Cost: Two courses £14.95, Three Courses £15.95

The restaurant closes at 2.30 pm and all tables must be vacated by this time to allow students to return to their studies.

Please note: If you are arriving by car, please allow time to find a space as parking at the college is limited.

Lunch Menu 5:

Days: Tuesday, Thursday & Friday 14th March to 31st March

Times: 12pm & 12.15pm

Cost: Two courses £14.95, Three Courses £15.95

The restaurant closes at 2.30 pm and all tables must be vacated by this time to allow students to return to their studies.

Lunch Menu 6:

Days: Thursday & Friday  20th April to 5th May

Times: 12pm & 12.15pm

Cost: Two courses £14.95, Three Courses £15.95

Dinner is five courses, including amuse, starter, fish course, main course and dessert.

The restaurant closes at 9.15pm.

A £10pp non-refundable deposit is required at the time of booking to confirm all evening reservations.

Days: Wednesday 15 March

Times: 6pm & 6.15pm

Cost: £27.50

Dinner is five courses, including amuse, starter, fish course, main course and dessert.

We continuously use various suppliers and locally sourced products for our restaurant and pantry dishes and many ingredients used may contain allergens.

As a training kitchen that proudly produces each dish from scratch, it is not possible for us to guarantee that any product is 100% free from any allergen.

If you have an allergy, we require prior communication of this to ensure we can cater for your requirements. We urge you to consider carefully before ordering or purchasing and to inform the supervisor of any allergies.

When visiting 74 South, current government COVID-19 safety procedures are being followed and we request all guests use hand sanitiser on arrival.

Please note that our Lounge is currently closed.

Pantry 74 is modelled on a continental style patisserie, selling a wide range of homemade pastries and bakery goods all prepared by students on-campus daily.
