Colleagues are also able to make the most of exercise classes offered onsite, both at lunchtimes and after work hours. Staff Development

As an organisation that puts education at the forefront of everything we do, it’s only right that we take the same approach for our employees.

There are a wide range of training and continued development opportunities available to staff. These include in-house sessions on coaching and mentoring, the opportunity to attend workshops and seminars, staff development days, as well as funding available towards relevant qualifications. HSDC also offers opportunities for funded research and cross-college projects, with some research bids involving international travel to speak at conferences.

To celebrate staff success we also have a strong reward and recognition programme.

Ever thought about getting into teaching?

At HSDC, we value dual professionalism. If you have industry experience and a desire to teach we can help you on your journey to becoming a fully qualified lecturer. We can offer 50% of funding towards your PGCE/Cert Ed fees* or cover the cost of your qualification upfront with the option of a repayment plan. This means you can work and qualify at the same time!

*If you are recruited as an unqualified lecturer, you must enrol on the PGCE/Cert Ed within your first two years of employment. You are also enrolled on the fully funded Level 3 Award in Education & Training (formally known as PTLLS) shortly after you start with us, so your formal teacher training starts straight away.
