In addition to the great culture, awesome colleagues and the opportunity to make a real difference to people’s lives, there are many other perks to working at HSDC. These include:
Free parking
All three campuses (Alton, Havant and South Downs) have free on-site parking, as well as good public transport links.
Food outlets
Regardless of which campus you are working on you will have access to onsite cafés including Starbucks (bring your own travel cup for discounts on hot drinks on all sites).
In addition to the refectories, South Downs Campus also has an on-site restaurant called 74 South, available for dinner reservations, as well as offering lunches at various periods throughout the year. You can also access ‘Pantry 74’, an outlet selling pre-prepared food from our professional chefs in training.
Childcare
Both our South Downs and Alton campuses have their own nursery onsite. Spaces are accessible for children of staff working at either campus (space permitting).
Learning Hubs
All HSDC staff have access to the learning hubs at all campuses, with the opportunity to borrow books for research, professional development or leisure, and even take part in the book exchange initiative.
Gym and sports facilities
South Downs Campus gym and Alton Campus gym are free to use for staff, there is also a sports massage clinic at various points throughout the year at our South Downs Campus. Colleagues are also able to make the most of exercise classes offered onsite, both at lunchtimes and after work hours. There is an additional cost for South Downs Campus gym classes and Alton Campus classes are free for staff.
As an organisation that puts education at the forefront of everything we do, it’s only right that we take the same approach for our employees.
There are a wide range of training and continued development opportunities available to staff. These include in-house sessions on coaching and mentoring, the opportunity to attend workshops and seminars, staff development days, as well as funding available towards relevant qualifications. HSDC also offers opportunities for funded research and cross-college projects, with some research bids involving international travel to speak at conferences.
To celebrate staff success we also have a strong reward and recognition programme.
Ever thought about getting into teaching?
At HSDC, we value dual professionalism. If you have industry experience and a desire to teach we can help you on your journey to becoming a fully qualified lecturer. We can offer 50% of funding towards your PGCE/Cert Ed fees* or cover the cost of your qualification upfront with the option of a repayment plan. This means you can work and qualify at the same time!
Giving back to the community is an important part of working at HSDC. All staff are given the chance to give back to causes close to their heart. There are opportunities for volunteering and regular fundraising activities for both local and national charities.
Staff are also able to contribute to a charity through the Give As You Earn (GAYE) scheme.
