Five GCSEs at grade 3 including English Language or Mathematics.

The course covers introductory knowledge and real life working skills. It sits on the Creative Media specification, but is adapted to specialise in the gaming and esports industries.

You will study seven introductory units and a final unit which will determine your overall grade.

Unit 1 – Introduction to creative media methods and skills.

Unit 2 – Introduction to production techniques in creative media.

Unit 3 – Understanding an audience in creative media production.

Unit 4 – Contextual research for creative media.

Unit 5 – Exploring audio production and technology

Unit 6 – Exploring visual production and technology.

Unit 7 – Exploring interactive media production and technology.

Unit 8 – Personal project and presentation in creative media production. Unit 8 is a self-directed project that gives you the freedom to explore an area of industry that you are most interested in.

You will be taught by lecturers who teach across our Level 3 gaming and esports provision. The course will be delivered through lectures and workshops, with a mixture of practical projects and written assessments for you to complete.

You will produce a range of projects over this two year course, all of which are assessed by coursework. You will complete a number of formative units where you will be given feedback and at the end of each year, a final major project that will determine your grade.

If you achieve a Merit or above you may wish to progress to any relevant Level 3 / T Level course at HSDC.

I overcame a couple of barriers by working really hard to get the top grades. My experience was really good, with the course and the lecturers, the residentials and activities, together it was all really good. I had really great teaching support, I could always go to the lecturers and speak to them if I needed to.

David Stenning, Public Services student

My experience at the college was enjoyable and productive, with thoroughly helpful people surrounding you, an excellent experience. I wasn’t expecting it to be as good as it was, with the work shop time and experience I had, it was a great two years preparing me for the next stage.

Edward Smith, BTEC student

This is a really good college, and it is definitely somewhere you can achieve your dreams.
