Dear Environmental Scientist,

You may be reading this from a few different perspectives:

  1. All of this is totally new to you and you want to find out more about what the subject involves.
  2. You already know quite a lot about environmental issues and want to understand the science behind these.
  3. You are simply fascinated in the environment around you!

It doesn’t matter what your reasons are – work at your own pace and enjoy finding out more about this exciting subject!

Students often tell us they have chosen Environmental Science because they want to take a subject which goes with Geography or Biology but are worried there might be an overlap between the subjects. There will be some overlap but this should help you with the other subjects, and not simply repeat what you are doing in other lessons, as each subject will cover overlap topics in a different way and help with your revision for any/all of these subjects. Making sure that you complete work set for deadlines also teaches you good time management skills and helps you progress to being an independent worker.

We hope you enjoy the materials we’ve included in this booklet and we hope these will help you work on skills you will need to be successful on the course!

The tutors were really supportive and it was all thanks to them that I have achieved what I have. I’ve also made loads of great friends and really enjoyed my time at the college.

Lizaveta Sinkerich, A Level student

I’m really happy and pleased with my grades. I really loved my time at the college, I have also made lots of friends, it’s a really nice place to be, I don’t want to leave.

Lauren Piper, A Level student

I overcame a couple of barriers by working really hard to get the top grades. My experience was really good, with the course and the lecturers, the residentials and activities, together it was all really good. I had really great teaching support, I could always go to the lecturers and speak to them if I needed to.
