Getting Ahead

Creative Content & Video Production at South Downs Campus

This Creative Content and Visual production course gives you the opportunity to develop your interest in the creative media industry. The focus of this course is to create and enhance practical skills to produce visual content in the media, learning through collaborative projects and using adobe software.

This work will help you get to grips with some of the key concepts involved in this course and the media industry. Building these foundations now will put you in good stead when you begin your course in September. The content delivery is supplemented with practical activities to allow you to develop the associated technical skills for the workplace.

This task will give you an introduction to the type of activities you will be given when you start your Level 2 Creative Content and Visual Production course in September. This task is designed to get you thinking about your media use.

Over the summer, reflect on the content and media you watch, create, or enjoy.

Write a short response (around 150–200 words) answering the following:

  • What kind of media content do you watch or follow the most (YouTube, film, TikTok, TV, etc.), and why?
  • Is there a content creator, film, or piece of media that inspires you? What do you like about it?
  • What makes visual content stand out to you — is it editing, story, humour, visuals, or something else?

Create a mood board or collage (digital or hand-drawn) that shows your favourite media, creators, or styles.

I would say it’s a college that really balances academia with fun, there is lots of extra-curricular stuff that you can get involved in. It has a really good work/life balance.

The tutors were really supportive and it was all thanks to them that I have achieved what I have. I’ve also made loads of great friends and really enjoyed my time at the college.

"I am delighted with my results and am really looking forward to studying Law at Oxford University. I really enjoyed my time at HSDC Alton and I really appreciate all the help and support from my fantastic teachers, without whom I wouldn't have got my place at Oxford."
