We are proud to offer a Sport Maker programme at the College, which offers a range of recreational active sessions for all students to get involved in. HSDC offer both the Silver and Gold Award, bringing all three campuses together to complete the expedition phase of each level. We utilise the surrounding South Downs as well as the New Forest for Silver and travel further afield to Exmoor and Dartmoor for Gold. We support you to complete the award in and around your chosen academic course whether that be A Levels, T Levels or a vocational course and in order to optimise this, we look to run the expedition phase of the award across weekends and outside of academic study points.
We have had vast numbers of students complete DofE year on year. It is a lifechanging experience, an opportunity to make new friends as well as discovering new interests and talents. You don’t have to have completed DofE before to be able to engage in the award with us. A number of students who complete their Gold Award recently had the opportunity to attend the award celebration in the grounds of Buckingham Palace, which was a fantastic event. Top Universities and employers recognise the resilience, problem-solving, team-working and communication skills award holders will have gained from the experience. The awards are made up of the following:
