Five GCSEs at grade 4 or above, including double Science. Grade 5 or above is required in English and Mathematics.

On this course, you will study the following:

  • Social influence
  • Memory
  • Attachment
  • Psychopathology
  • Approaches
  • Biopsychology
  • Forensic psychology
  • Relationships
  • Stress
  • Research methods
  • Issues and debates

Psychology is the study of human behaviour and how our biology, mental processes, experiences of the world around us and the actions of others work together to influence our behaviour and who we become.

Lessons involve working through topic workbooks, whole class and small group discussions and timed assessments, aided by the use of mini-whiteboards and Kahoot! quizzes. Students carry out mini research projects into the topic areas studied. We organise trips and speakers, including a day at the psychology department at Winchester University. There is also the opportunity to take part in the University of Winchester Young Researchers Programme (students will be trained by the researchers to carry out data collection).

100% exams (three exam papers).

The exams contain a mixture of multiple choice, short answers and extended writing. 10% of assessment contains mathematical skills equivalent to Level 2 or above.

The additional cost of a textbook is optional.

Optional trips from £15.

Everyone at the College was really helpful, and there’s lots of facilities, meaning it’s very easy to get your work done on time, and get good grades. The teaching and support was excellent, they were always on top of it, and made sure you got work done on time and you were challenged. Everyone is friendly and its really diverse, meaning you can get involved in lots of different things.
