Throughout this one day a week programme, you will gain a solid understanding about the diverse contexts of health and social care professions, and the programme also incorporates the National Minimum Training Standards for Adult Social Care Workers in England.
Your course will include psychological, historical, cultural, sociological, sociopolitical and philosophical viewpoints, which will be delivered through a combination of taught sessions and employer-supported work-based learning, giving you an ideal combination of learning methods.

The course is delivered partly through taught sessions and partly through employer-supported work-based learning. You will be taught in small groups and there is individual tutorial support to assist with the planning and checking of coursework
You will be assessed using a variety of methods, including essays, case studies, reports, observations, individual and group presentations and a dissertation proposal.
The FdA in Health and Social Care will enable you to work at a higher/management level within the health and social care sector, and/or top up to the one year BA (Hons) in Adult Social Care degree programme here at HSDC, or alternatively, a Bachelor’s degree programme at a university.
