Overview

The Team Leading Apprenticeship is for employees currently in a position of authority, with delegates, and looking to gain a qualification to improve their ways of working; e.g. Front-Line Manager, Supervisor, Junior Manager, Team Leader, Project Officer and Shift Supervisor/Manager.Your current responsibilities may include, but not be limited to: supporting, managing and developing team members, managing projects, planning and monitoring workloads and resources, delivering operational plans, resolving problems and building relationships.A Team Leader/Supervisor is a first-line management role, with operational/project responsibilities or responsibility for managing a team to deliver certain aims. As an Apprentice Team Leader or Supervisor, you’ll learn how to provide direction, instructions and guidance to ensure the achievement of set goals. The key responsibilities are likely to include supporting, managing and developing team members, managing projects, planning and monitoring workloads and resources, delivering operational plans, resolving problems and building relationships internally and externally.

Our expectation is that all Apprentices should already possess English and Mathematics to a GCSE grade C/4 or equivalent. However, we will consider applicants without these grades subject to an initial assessment with one of the Apprenticeship Team.

HSDC offers multiple delivery options for Operational/Departmental Management. Learners can undertake the Apprenticeship as a fully work-based Apprenticeship. Learners can attend our mixed business group based at our South Downs Campus and mix with managers from other organisations. We also offer the opportunity to have a class delivered at your businesses (provided you have training rooms and sufficient numbers of staff interested in the course). If you’d like a group of only your own staff, but don’t want to train at your premises, we offer a standalone group option based at any of our campuses (Alton, Havant and Waterlooville). Typical Course Duration: 14 months and 1-3 months End Point Assessment period.

Apprentices can be taught via classroom delivery, work-based learning/assessment and vocational “on and off the job training”. This is always dependent on the course, the preferences of the business and the wishes of the learner.

Interview, Portfolio and Professional Discussion.

On completion, Apprentices may choose to register as Associate members with the Chartered Management Institute and/or the Institute of Leadership & Management, to support their professional career development and progression.Future roles/occupations may include: Supervisor, Team Leader, Project Officer, Shift Supervisor, Foreperson and Shift Manager.

Opportunities may exist to gain professional accreditation in your chosen field post completion of the qualification. Your Assessor will support you with information on gaining professional accreditation. As we work with Apprentices that are already employed, if you attend our day release programmes you will mix with a diverse range of businesses with Apprentices in the same sector.

“I owe the staff a lot and I wouldn't be where I am today without them.”

Tom Andrews, A Level Student

I’m really happy and pleased with my grades. I really loved my time at the college, I have also made lots of friends, it’s a really nice place to be, I don’t want to leave.

Lauren Piper, A Level student

College is definitely worth all the effort you put in, you get to meet lots of different people and it’s amazing.
