You will work on clients in a professional salon environment which will prepare you to work in the industry. You will complete work-related industry placements, which in the past has led our previous students to secure themselves employment in the industry.

Three GCSE’s at grade 3 and GCSE grade 4 in Science.

The units you will cover include:– Working in the hair industry– Health and safety– Client consultation– Promoting products– Cutting women’s hair– Colouring hair– Perming hair– Art of dressing hair– Cutting men’s hair

You will be taught in a realistic salon environment by lecturers with vast experience within the industry. Your practical lessons will be in a fully working salon which is open to the public. You will have the chance to enter into competition work. You will have practical assessments for each unit to do in the salons and a theory exam for each practical unit.

You will be internally assessed for your practical units and externally assessed for theory exams.

If you achieve a Merit grade or higher on this course, you can progress onto Level 3 Hairdressing. Alternatively, you can progress into full-time employment or an apprenticeship.

I overcame a couple of barriers by working really hard to get the top grades. My experience was really good, with the course and the lecturers, the residentials and activities, together it was all really good. I had really great teaching support, I could always go to the lecturers and speak to them if I needed to.

My experience at the College was great, it’s very different to school, and I think it’s a good step to going to university. The support was amazing, I loved all of my teachers, they helped me through everything. The College is friendly and you will succeed.
