Dance A Level at Havant Campus

This creative and challenging course specialises in British contemporary dance (Rambert Dance Company) and American jazz dance. You can start to develop your passion for dance right now in preparation for September by enhancing your research and critical writing skills through dance theory.

Write one biography using one of the three options below:

  • Gene Kelly
  • Jerome Robbins
  • Bob Fosse

Your biography should be 300-400 words and address when and where they were born, early dance training, famous works they’ve choreographed and the stylistic features of their choreography such as preferred genre, signature movements, specific dance language associated with each choreographer, preferred themes/starting points for choreography, choreographic preferences and influences (who has inspired them along the way?). What makes these choreographers unique? Why have they, in your opinion, stood the test of time? And finally, what have they contributed to the jazz and musical theatre genre?

Hey Big Spender by Bob Fosse

Moses Supposes by Gene Kelly

America by Jerome Robbins
