Outsider art is used to describe art that has a naïve quality, often produced by people who have not trained as artists or worked within the conventional structures of art production.

Looking at outsider art will open your mind to looking at art in different ways. It’s easy to fall into a trap of producing representational art on GCSE and A Level courses looking at portraiture, architecture and still life.

Respond to outsider artists’ work and document your findings.

Find two to three artworks that catch your eye and produce your own responses. These responses can be done with any media of your choice and size. Discuss briefly why you chose the artists and what you like about them – 200-300 words.

Everyone at the College was really helpful, and there’s lots of facilities, meaning it’s very easy to get your work done on time, and get good grades. The teaching and support was excellent, they were always on top of it, and made sure you got work done on time and you were challenged. Everyone is friendly and its really diverse, meaning you can get involved in lots of different things.
