Getting Ahead

Fine Art A Level at Havant Campus

Are you studying Fine Art A Level at Havant Campus in September? If so, you’re in the right place!

We’ve put together the following ‘Getting Ahead’ work to help you prep for your course over the summer.

We can’t wait for you to start College with us soon.

Outsider art is used to describe art that has a naïve quality, often produced by people who have not trained as artists or worked within the conventional structures of art production.

Looking at outsider art will open your mind to looking at art in different ways. It’s easy to fall into a trap of producing representational art on GCSE and A Level courses looking at portraiture, architecture and still life.

Respond to outsider artists’ work and document your findings.

Find two to three artworks that catch your eye and produce your own responses. These responses can be done with any media of your choice and size. Discuss briefly why you chose the artists and what you like about them – 200-300 words.
