Getting Ahead

Applied Science (Medical Science) at South Downs Campus

This work is designed to help you prepare for the Applied Science (Medical Science) course and give you a strong head start before the academic year begins.

The tasks included in this summer work aim to introduce you to the types of learning and thinking you’ll be doing throughout the course. They will help you begin developing your analytical, research, and problem-solving skills, as well as your ability to evaluate information and communicate scientific ideas effectively. Completing this work will not only support a smooth transition into the course but also help you build confidence in applying scientific knowledge in real-world contexts.

Take a look at the document to learn how to balance chemical equations – Balancing Chemical Equations

Once you feel confident, try to balance each of the following equations:

  1.       Fe    +    Cl2     🡪     FeCl
  2.       Fe    +    O2    🡪    Fe2O3
  3.       FeBr3    +    H2SO4    🡪    Fe2 (SO4)3    +    HBr
  4.       C4H6O3    +    H2O    🡪    C2H4O2
  5.       C2H4    +    O2    🡪    CO2    +    H2O
  6.       C4H10O    +     O2     🡪     CO2     +     H2O
  7.       C7H16     +     O2     🡪     CO2     +     H2O
  8.       H2SiCl2     +     H2O     🡪     H8Si4O4     +     HCl
  9.       HSiCl3     +     H2O     🡪     H10Si10O15     +     HCl
  10.       C7H9     +     HNO3     🡪     C7H6(NO2)3     +     H2O
  11.       C5H8O2     +     NaH    +     HCl     🡪     C5H12O2     +     NaCl

This is a really good college, and it is definitely somewhere you can achieve your dreams.
