Students who meet one of the 4 criteria below and who have a financial need can apply for a bursary of up to £1200 per year. The £1200 bursary reflects that student’s in the below groups may need a greater level of support to enable them to participate and continue in education. If eligible for the bursary, essential college costs, such as bus pass, equipment or uniform can be taken from this amount, leaving the remainder to be paid into the student’s bank account on a weekly basis if the student has attended 100% of their classes and abides by the colleges rules and behaviour standards.
The defined vulnerable groups are students who are:
Children looked after by a local authority on a voluntary basis (section 20 of the Children Act 1989) or under a care order (section 31 of the Children Act 1989).
