Childcare financial support

HSDC operates two Childcare Schemes. Both Childcare Schemes help to provide funding for childcare costs whilst the student is engaged in a study programme. Please see the options below for more information.

We’re passionate about making learning easier for students. Continuing with your learning can help you build a better future, gain confidence, independence and give you a chance to meet new people. If you are a young parent (aged under 20 when your course starts) and you want to start or continue in learning, you could be eligible for help with childcare costs through the Government ‘Care to Learn’ scheme.

The subject or course you take up is up to you, and you can study either part time or full time depending on what suits you best. The Care to Learn scheme is designed to give young parents the help and support they need to enjoy studying without added worries. For more information and how to apply please visit the Care to Learn website.

HSDC offers a generous financial assistance childcare scheme for those students who are aged 20+ and are in receipt of or are an unwaged dependant of someone who is in receipt of an income-based benefit. The College may be able to greatly assist with the cost of childcare fees during the time you spend at College studying. You can study a full time or part time course. Even if you do not fit the above criteria, but are having financial difficulty, we may still be able to help.
