Alan Knight MBE was welcomed at South Downs College on 10 January 2017 by four Level 3 Extended Diploma Business students to talk at an event they organised as part of their their course
160 students turned out to hear Alan Knight MBE talk about what it is like to work in the football industry from a business perspective. He spoke about the Pompey brand, managing finances at a football club, players being treated like a commodity and the role of social media in the players lives.
Alan Knight MBE said:
‘I thought they would be bored by me talking but the students asked some good questions and seemed really interested’
The event was promoted across College, using a range of techniques, giving the students involved real life experience of coordinating and managing all aspects putting on an event.
Dom Thompson, Business Lecturer said:
‘The students organised the whole thing by themselves and to have a packed out performance theatre is a credit to their marketing skills’
