Leavers’ Art Exhibitions

July 6, 2018

A Level and Vocational Art, Photography and Fashion students showcased the pieces they have been working on at the end of year arts shows.

The end of year shows gives students the chance to show off their hard work over the year and gives them the opportunity to see their work displayed in a professional setting.

Members of the public were invited to the Havant Campus Leavers’ Exhibition on 26 June from 5-7pm, which saw work from A Level Graphics, Fine Art and Photography students, as well as BTEC Extended Diploma in Art and Design students.

A Level Graphics student, Kiya Burrell, said: “The best thing about today is looking at my end result, it has turned out much better than I thought, I like seeing how I got there too, I am actually pretty proud!”

BTEC Extended Diploma student, Sparky Rose, said: “The best thing about today is seeing the journey from the start of the course, it’s really interesting to see the direction we have all taken and where we are now and how much we have developed in both our work and as individuals.”

Sparky is moving on to study Graphic Arts at Winchester School of Arts.

Student Andy Van Steenderen, who is moving on to Farnham University to student Mixed Media Arts, said: “The best thing about today is seeing everyone’s work, it’s really cool to see the bits and pieces that we have seen through the course come together as an end result.

“The best thing about HSDC has been the teaching and student support, staff are always there and are really supportive.”

Lecturer Chris Cook said: “The end of year art show is a great chance for a final send off for many of our students and a great opportunity to say goodbye after two years of hard work.

“Many of our students are progressing to degree level, whether these be in fine art or photography, and it is skills like this that will transfer to degree shows.”

A Level and Vocational students from the South Downs Campus also put on successful end of year art shows at the end of June. The pictures from the exhibitions can be seen on our Facebook page here.
