A huge crowd gathered to cheer on two Havant & South Downs College football teams who went head-to-head for charity last week.

The Learning for Learners with Difficulties and Disabilities (LLDD) teams and the Additional Learning Support (ALS) team took part in the match to raise money for the Cash for Kids Sports Challenge.

HSDC has been chosen by Wave 105 as one of the 10 organisations to take part in the challenge – and they will match every penny raised up until £1,500.

Speaking about the event on Wednesday, 10 October, Sport Maker Kirsty Harley said: “The event was fantastic! It was really well received by those who played, and we drew a huge crowd including parents, other College students from different courses and staff from a range of College departments.

“The ALS staff dominated the game however Charlie scored for the LLDD team making the final score 2-1.

“Although it was a loss for the LLDD team, that was not the point of the game. It was about raising money and from the donations from the side of the pitch we raised and incredible £100.49. Thank you to everyone who donated.”

LLDD football has proven to be an outstanding success at HSDC, with last year’s team representing the South East in AOC’s Sport National Championship. And Kirsty wants to give the LLDD team members something to feel proud of with a new football kit for future tournaments.

HSDC will soon find out where they placed in the Cash for Kids Sports Challenge, keep up to date with how they get on by checking into our news pages.
