Mission Christmas 2018

Staff and students from Havant & South Downs College have helped collect Christmas presents for children in poverty as part of Wave 105’s Mission Christmas appeal.

HSDC has collected presents for the Cash for Kids initiative for the past three years, collecting 104 presents in the first year and 172 last year.

More than 90,000 children live in poverty across our area – for these families Christmas is a luxury they can’t afford.

That’s why Wave 105 Cash for Kids launched Mission Christmas – and HSDC got involved once again, asking staff to buy just one extra present this year to ensure that every child has a happy Christmas.

The HSDC Christmas Angels collected gifts from both the South Downs and Havant Campuses up until 11 December.

Curriculum Support Officer, Amber Harrod, said: “Over the last three year the Curriculum Support Team has organised the collection for Wave 105’s Mission Christmas. Every year our staff and students overwhelm us with their kind donations.

“This year we surpassed all expectation and collect a total of 220 gifts which will be distributed within the local area to children who without these donations would be without anything on Christmas morning.

“We wish to thank all staff and student who have donated to this amazing cause, wishing you all a Merry Christmas.”
