August 10, 2021

Students across all three HSDC campuses were delighted to see their efforts paid off as they received results for Vocational courses and A Levels.

HSDC Havant student Annaliese Kattenhorn, 18, was over the moon when she received her results this morning.

After two years of hard work studying Law, Business Studies, Mathematics and a year of the Extended Project Qualification, Annaliese achieved three A*s and a C.

Looking forward to the future, Annaliese said:

“I’m so excited to be able to continue my studies at Surrey University for Law especially after the year everyone has faced.

“I am delighted with my results which were made possible by the fantastic teachers at Havant.”

Despite the challenges of the past two years, many students have excelled and finished their courses with stellar results.

Ellie Norfolk from HSDC Alton received two A*s and an A in Psychology, PE and Photography which has left her with a very bright future ahead.

Ellie said: “I am extremely happy with my results which will enable me to study a degree in Psychology at Royal Holloway University. Even though studying through a pandemic has been difficult, my teachers have always been supportive and have provided varied ways of learning.”

Dedication to her studies has landed Issy Vickery, pictured at top of story, with a fantastic spread of results, achieving three A*s, an A and a Distinction*.

Issy studied A Levels in Geography, Biology and Psychology, the Extended Project Qualification and a BTEC in Music Performance (Jazz).

She said: “I am so pleased with my results, I couldn’t be happier – all the hard work paid off! I have accepted my place at the University of Durham to study Human Geography. Thank you to everyone at Alton who supported me along the way, it is much appreciated.”

Top grades in a variety of challenging subjects means HSDC Havant student Conall Templeman will be heading off to Imperial College London to study Design Engineering.

One student is now ready to take the next steps towards her dream career after receiving three Bs in her A Level results.

Lucy Erridge, from HSDC Havant, excelled in her chosen subjects of History, Politics and English Literature.

Lucy, who is going on to study at the University of Kent, said: “It’s a huge feeling of relief and elation at my hard work paying off, and now I can pursue my passion for history into a career through the university I am excited to attend.”

Vocational students at our South Downs and Alton campuses have also been celebrating success today in a variety of practical subjects designed to get them career-ready.

HSDC South Downs student Hayden Kracke completed the UAL Level 3 Extended Diploma in Creative Media Production (Film & TV) and achieved a Distinction.

Hayden recently competed in the semi-final of the WorldSkills UK competition with three of his classmates, helping to create a vlog which covered 10 top tips on how to create an effective news report.

After seeing his course result, Hayden said: “I feel really glad to achieve the grade that I wanted to achieve to then go onto university.”

Fellow HSDC South Downs student Maygen Brown was celebrating her achievements after passing the first year of a Level 3 Advanced Diploma in Animal Care and Management with a Distinction.

Maygen said: “I’m so grateful for my grade, I worked so hard to achieve the best I could for my first year of my two-year course at HSDC and passing my Maths GCSE as well this year has been extremely exciting. I’m so grateful for the College’s help and support too!”
