A passionate and dedicated former student had the experience of a lifetime at Portsmouth’s annual music festival, Victorious.
Former student Eden Gains, who studied UAL Level 3 Extended Diploma in Music Performance on HSDC’s South Downs Campus was given the unique opportunity to perform and work at the renowned Victorious Festival in Southsea.
The festival attended by thousands of individuals from across the country, hosted performances from top acts such as Jamiroquai, Kasabian, Mumford & Sons, McFly, and many more!
With keen aspirations to forge a career in the music industry, Eden was given the chance to work at the festival after meeting Victorious co-founder Ben at HSDC’s Music Industry Week earlier this year. Eden was able to shadow a member of the team throughout two full days of the festival, completing tasks such as artist liaison and acting as a runner, ensuring everything was running smoothly for those on the stage.
Eden was also lucky enough to perform on the first day of the festival, performing a mix of covers and originals on the RADWEB stage, engaging the crowd and getting them to sing along to some of the songs.
Eden, who described the three-day event as “incredible” added:
“Throughout the weekend I met many incredible people. I felt so welcome and like I was part of the team within the first hour of being there. Victorious Festival has always been the music festival that I value the most as it is in my hometown but also because it has grown so much over the years. Seeing how it operates behind the scenes really has confirmed that this is the job I would love to do.
I want to thank my lecturer Paul for introducing me to Ben when he visited the College during industry week and pushing me to do something that is out of my comfort zone as I loved it. It has really helped me to prepare for university. I also want to thank Ben for giving me the opportunity to work in an environment I enjoy so much.”
