Throughout 2024, both Havant and South Downs Campuses have celebrated their 50th anniversary of providing further education to students! Opening in 1974, both campuses have a rich history of helping young people aspire and achieve their dreams.
On Wednesday 13 November, 74 South, the College restaurant at South Downs Campus, hosted an anniversary dinner, inviting staff, students, governors and businesses involved with the College both past and present. It truly was an incredible evening of reflection on what has been a wonderful half-century of further education and enrichment for young people.
The event was launched by HSDC’s Chair of Governors, Clive Dobbin, who warmly welcomed these guests. The food was cooked and served by HSDC students, supported by South Downs’ wonderful team of Chefs and restaurant managers.
During the evening, HSDC’s Principal and CEO Mike Gaston gave an impassioned speech about the history of Havant and South Downs, reflecting on the amount of change that both campuses have experienced over the past 50 years. After thanking the guests for their dedication to the College, Mike then looked forward to the future:
“Thank you all for being part of this incredible journey. Here’s to the next 50 years – a future filled with promise, possibility and continued success.”
The meal at 74 South is just one small part of Havant and South Downs’ 50th celebrations, which have been ongoing since the beginning of the year.
