It’s T Level Week! This is a national event devised by the Department for Education to raise awareness and celebrate the fantastic opportunities that T Levels can provide. These are dynamic and modern qualifications, splitting learning 80/20 between the classroom and an industry placement and ensuring that students are prepared for a career in the modern workplace.
Today, HSDC is focusing on the incredible array of progression opportunities that come about as a result of studying a T Level, taking a look at some of our inspiring students and seeing what they had to say about where the qualifications have taken them.

Arya Patel achieved a Distinction in the Healthcare Science T Level at South Downs Campus.
Arya Patel recently achieved a Distinction in the Healthcare Science T Level at South Downs Campus. Studying the T Level allowed Arya to accept an unconditional offer to study Medicine in Bulgaria on a full scholarship, a truly fantastic achievement. Speaking about how the T Level helped her attain this, Arya said:
“The practical side of my course really helped me to develop my specialist knowledge. The teachers definitely gave me a lot of work to do, but I also had the freedom to plan my own revision, and they would even structure their lessons around our own studies.”

Louie studied the T Level in Design, Surveying & Planning for Construction, and is now a project manager at PMc.
Louie studied the T Level in Design, Surveying & Planning for Construction, a course that was instrumental in helping him to become an Assistant Project Manager at Peter Marsh Consulting, where he also completed his work placement. When asked about the doors that T Levels can open, Louie said:
“T Level courses have the potential to unlock a career path that you wouldn’t have even thought to go down. I absolutely would not be in my current position if it wasn’t for the T Level, because it was during my work placement that I discovered my passion for Project Management! I impressed during my placement, and therefore received a job offer doing something that I love.”
HSDC is also proud to offer a Level 2 transitionary programme for those who are not yet ready to start the full T Level. Known as the Pre-T Level, this course is especially helpful to develop your English and Maths skills alongside a strong foundational understanding of your course.

Completing the Pre-T Level allowed Jamie to progress onto the full T Level in Engineering.
Last year, Alton College student Jamie Cameron completed the Engineering Pre-T Level, allowing him to progress onto the full T Level Programme. Speaking about this important course, Jamie said:
“Taking the Pre-T Level was great to build my confidence and make me comfortable in a working environment. Now that I’ve progressed onto the full T Level, my problem-solving skills have grown massively, meaning I feel ready to adapt to more complex problems that I might face in the workplace.”

Johanna Thompson earned a Merit in the Nursing T Level.
Johanna Thompson earned a Merit in her Nursing T Level at South Downs Campus, and is currently studying Midwifery at the University of Surrey. We recently spoke to Johanna about how this T Level helped her to achieve her goals:
“The main way the T Level helped me was by putting me in a learning environment with like-minded people who all had similar ambitions. The lecturers all have lots of experience in the industry, and helped me to develop the skills needed to become a fully qualified midwife in the future!”

Harrison’s T Level has proved instrumental in helping him to become a Chartered Quantity Surveyor.
Harrison Benfield’s time on the T Level in Design, Surveying & Planning was instrumental in helping his progression after College, securing his place on an Apprenticeship to become a fully qualified Chartered Quantity Surveyor. Speaking about his journey, Harrison said:
“The T Level really enhanced my employability, as my placement gave me a list of references I could add to my CV. My time on the placement eventually led to me starting an Apprenticeship at the same company, and gave me such a unique insight into the industry as well.”
From university to the workplace, the diversity of opportunities open to those who study T Levels is truly endless.
