A group of students from Alton College recently celebrated their academic, vocational and technical achievements at the College’s annual Student of the Year Awards ceremony.

Students, families, friends and staff came together to recognise the outstanding accomplishments of learners from a wide range of subject areas, highlighting the dedication, resilience and excellence demonstrated throughout the academic year. Awards were presented across a variety of curriculum areas, alongside six special awards sponsored by the Alton College Foundation (ACF).
The ceremony was a celebration of both academic success and the impact the students have made within College life, with award winners receiving personalised citations from their teachers in recognition of their commitment and achievements.

Nathan Lintott won Student of the Year for Engineering and Technology.
Nathan Lintott was named Alton College Student of the year for Technology and Engineering, having impressed staff with his exemplary attendance and the exceptional standard of work he produced whilst studying the Engineering T Level. Reflecting on his time at Alton, Nathan said:
“Coming to Alton and seeing the engineering department really inspired me! The T Level was great because of the mix of theory and practical work – you can learn about how systems work, and then actually go into the workshop to make them.”
Belle Pogson received the Alton College Student of the Year Award for Performing Arts & Music.

Described by her teachers as a true ambassador for the Performing Arts department, Belle has made a significant contribution to College life during her studies. Speaking about her experience at Alton, Belle said:

“This College really does feel like a little community, and the range of subjects was exactly what I was looking for. I’ve loved getting to know all of my teachers, they are so incredibly helpful and always happy to listen to your questions.”
As the evening drew to a close, one final award remained.

Neve Collie won the overall Student of the Year Award.
The prestigious overall Alton College Student of the Year Award was presented to Neve Collie, in recognition of her remarkable determination, resilience and success in Textiles A Level. Despite facing tremendous adversity during the past academic year, Neve continued to excel in her studies and demonstrated an unwavering commitment to achieving her goals.
Lizzie Henley, Textiles teacher at Alton College, praised Neve’s achievements, saying:
“Neve has shown extraordinary spirit, determination and ability in Textiles. She has faced huge challenges in her personal life this year but her focus on her studies has not wavered. I am proud to be lucky enough to be teaching her and to witness her dedication and courage.”
Everybody at Alton College is incredibly proud of all of this year’s award winners and wishes them every success as they take their next steps into higher education, apprenticeships and employment.
