Students at Alton College have been celebrating today as they collected their results and reflected on their college journey, with many now preparing for university, degree apprenticeships and exciting creative careers.
Students praised the support of their teachers, the friendships they have formed and the opportunities that helped them develop both academically and personally during their time studying at Alton College.
Nathan Dowdeswell
Nathan Dowdeswell, who studied Photography, Media and Environmental Science, said: ‘My favourite part of the college experience was the people I’ve met. HSDC helped me navigate my way through photography.’ Nathan is now progressing to an Art and Design Foundation Year at Alton.
Toby Shellard
Toby Shellard, who studied Design Technology and Photography, said his favourite part of college was the people. He is planning to continue his creative journey through a foundation year in Art and Photography at Alton College.
Alfie Keeping
Alfie Keeping, who studied Environmental Science, Geography and Photography, is now exploring Degree Apprenticeship opportunities in the environmental sector, with ambitions to move into Geoscience.
Students Progressing to Higher Education
Students heading to higher education were equally excited about their next steps.
Eleanor Bevis
Eleanor Bevis, who studied PE, Sociology and Criminology, praised the support she received during her studies and is now progressing to Chichester University. Her advice to future students is simple: ‘It’s never too early to start revising!’
Megan Boult
Megan Boult, who studied Criminology, Psychology and Religious Studies, described Alton College as a place where the “smaller community feels more friendly” and added that “the teachers were always willing to help.” Megan will now be studying Criminology at Bournemouth University.
Creative and Digital Students Highlight Support
Creative and digital students also highlighted the positive impact of their lecturers and the supportive learning environment.
Finlay Gander
Finlay Gander, who studied Music Technology, Music Production and Photography, said: “I wouldn’t have been able to do this well without the teachers.” He is now progressing to study Electronic Music Production in Bristol.
Mollie Brand
Mollie Brand, who studied Film and TV, said: “The teachers have been my favourite part of college, everyone I have met has helped me.” Mollie plans to progress onto a degree apprenticeship.
Luke May
Luke May, who studied Games Design and Development, said: “Meeting new people and being helped to complete my course has been the best part of my experience.” He added that his lecturers continually pushed him to achieve his best. Luke is now planning to continue his studies at university.
Reflecting on the College Experience

Robyn Harris
Robyn Harris, who studied Film, Sociology and English Language, said her favourite part of college was “meeting new people”. She is now progressing to Winchester University to study Creative Writing and encouraged new students to “enjoy it and be happy; whatever will be, will be.”
Connor Gershater
Connor Gershater, who achieved an A and a Distinction in Performing Arts, praised the “amazing teachers” and the support received throughout the time studying at Alton College. Their success was credited to both teachers and friends for helping achieve their success.
