Results day brought celebrations to HSDC South Downs as students opened their envelopes and looked back on their time at college, with many now stepping into university, apprenticeships and healthcare careers.
Students praised the support of their teachers, the friendships they have formed and the practical experiences that helped them develop both academically and professionally during their time at HSDC South Downs.
Joe Hendry, who studied L3 Hospitality Supervision and Leadership, reflected on the positive impact college has had on his journey. He said: “College has given me time to truly enjoy my work. This hospitality course has allowed me to study the thing I love, as well as spending lots of my time at South Downs with my friends. If I had to give one piece of advice to new students, it would be to just give college your best shot, and enjoy it.”
Students Progressing to University
Students heading to higher education were equally excited about their next steps.
Nicole Wadey
Nicole Wadey, who studied Forensic Science and Criminal Investigation, achieved Distinction Star, Distinction and Distinction. Nicole said her favourite part of college was making friends and participating in her course lessons. She credited attentive teaching for helping her achieve her results and is now planning to progress to university. Her advice to future students is: “work very hard!”
Sophie Woodhouse
Sophie Woodhouse, who studied a T Level in Health and Nursing, achieved a Merit. Sophie said her favourite part of college was her placement at QA Hospital and praised the supportive staff and practical learning experiences she received. She is now progressing to the University of Surrey to study Adult Nursing. Her advice to future students is: “Embrace every opportunity given to you and go outside your comfort zone.”
Emily Roberts
Emily Roberts, who studied a T Level in Health and Nursing, achieved a Merit. Emily said her favourite part of college was gaining real experiences through placement opportunities and highlighted the support staff provided in helping her achieve her goals. She is now progressing to Portsmouth University to study Mental Health Nursing. Her advice to future students is: “Be Open to every opportunity given to you.”
Daniella Davis
Daniella Davis, who studied a T Level in Health and Nursing, achieved a Merit. Daniella particularly enjoyed her placement experience and the opportunity to develop her knowledge throughout the course. She praised the support of both staff and peers and is now planning to study Paramedic Science at university. Her advice to future students is: “Immerse yourself in the practical side of your lessons.”
Healthcare Students Highlight Practical Experience

Lily Rushton
Lily Rushton, who studied a T Level in Health and Nursing, achieved a Merit. Lily credited her teachers and the support she received with her access requirements throughout her studies. She is now progressing directly into full-time employment within the QA Radiology Department, with progression opportunities included. Her advice to future students is: “Don’t give up!”
Zoe Lindup
Zoe Lindup, who studied Healthcare and Nursing T Level, achieved a Merit. Zoe said her favourite part of college was meeting new friends and building strong relationships with classmates and teachers. She praised the support she received throughout her studies and is now progressing to Portsmouth University to study Paramedic Science. Her advice to future students is: “Don’t give up and enjoy it as it all goes by very fast.”
Brooke Westerman
Brooke Westerman, who studied T Level Nursing and Healthcare, achieved a Distinction. Brooke highlighted meeting new friends, personal growth and having amazing teachers as the best parts of her college experience. She credited the amazing support she received throughout her studies and is now progressing to university to study Adult Nursing. Her advice to future students is: “You’ll be great, just believe in yourself.”
