Performing Arts students at South Downs College have demonstrated their creativity and organisational skills after successfully staging a variety show that raised over £600 for future productions.

With tickets priced at just £5, the variety show brought together talented Level 3 and Level 4 students for an evening of dance, music and comedy at Havant Sixth Form Studio Theatre. Taking the lead both on and off stage, students planned and delivered the event themselves, showcasing their creativity, talent and organisational skills.

From coordinating performances to overseeing refreshments, hospitality and fundraising activities, students took responsibility for every aspect of the event. The experience provided a valuable opportunity to develop their confidence, teamwork and leadership skills while gaining first-hand experience of organising a live production.

Dance teacher Sarah Parsons praised the students’ efforts, saying:

“Overall, the variety show was a brilliant example of student initiative. Although I was roped in at the last minute to help with lights and sound, it was wonderful to see the students take on most of the responsibility. Organising a show from scratch is a stressful experience and they learned a lot about themselves.”
