Last autumn saw the opening of our new facilities in collaboration with the South Coast Institute of Technology (southcoastiot.ac.uk) at our South Downs Campus. This high-tech engineering and digital facility is the result of a £2.6m government investment, aimed at increasing the number of people in the region with higher-level technical qualifications in three vital sectors: Maritime, Engineering, and Digital.
These new facilities nurture practical skills and theoretical knowledge across a range of engineering and digital industries.
The new engineering workshops feature modern equipment for electro-mechanical, and manufacturing engineering, facilitating hands-on learning and project realisation. Specialist machinery such as robotic arms, 3D printers, lathes and milling machines support precision engineering tasks, while dedicated CAD/CAM suites enable students to design and simulate their projects before execution.
HSDC also provides access to industry-standard software and hardware for engineering analysis and design, software, and network engineering. With a focus on practical application and technical expertise, these facilities empower students to excel in various engineering and digital disciplines and prepare them for a wide range of highly sought after careers.
Our excellent track record as a large provider of higher-level education and training in the engineering sector, plus our desire to expand this into the digital sector, has resulted in the transformation of our digital classrooms and workshop spaces. Alongside these developments, we have also invested in an array of new digital equipment, such as robotics, Augmented Reality and Artificial Intelligence.
