There is an expectation that you would have Level 2 in Counselling, as well as a minimum of Level 2 English or skills at that level prior to enrolment.

To enrol on this Adult Learning course you must be aged 19 years or over.

You will study the following units:

  • Unit 1: Developing counselling skills,
  • Unit 2: Theoretical approaches to the use of counselling skills,
  • Unit 3: Working ethically with counselling skills,
  • Unit 4: Counselling skills and diversity,
  • Unit 5: Counselling and personal development.

Once you have enrolled on the course, you will be allocated a tutor and assigned to your learning platform. An induction will follow and then you will be able to commence your course.

You will be assessed by submitting individual units of work and will receive feedback for each unit as you progress. There is no final exam.

On completion of this course, you will have enhanced your existing work skills. This qualification does not qualify learners to practice as a counsellor.

The staff that will be supporting you through this course have sector expertise.

I overcame a couple of barriers by working really hard to get the top grades. My experience was really good, with the course and the lecturers, the residentials and activities, together it was all really good. I had really great teaching support, I could always go to the lecturers and speak to them if I needed to.
