Overview

This qualification is designed for learners interested in using counselling skills as part of their functional role in a wide range of sector areas or looking to progress towards accredited counter status. This qualification does not qualify learners to practice as a counsellor.

There is an expectation that you would have Level 2 in Counselling, as well as a minimum of Level 2 English or skills at that level prior to enrolment. To enrol on this Adult Learning course you must be aged 19 years or over.

You will study the following units: Unit 1: Developing counselling skills, Unit 2: Theoretical approaches to the use of counselling skills, Unit 3: Working ethically with counselling skills, Unit 4: Counselling skills and diversity, Unit 5: Counselling and personal development.

Once you have enrolled on the course, you will be allocated a tutor and assigned to your learning platform. An induction will follow and then you will be able to commence your course.

You will be assessed by submitting individual units of work and will receive feedback for each unit as you progress. There is no final exam.

On completion of this course, you will have enhanced your existing work skills. This qualification does not qualify learners to practice as a counsellor.

The staff that will be supporting you through this course have sector expertise.

Everyone at the College was really helpful, and there’s lots of facilities, meaning it’s very easy to get your work done on time, and get good grades. The teaching and support was excellent, they were always on top of it, and made sure you got work done on time and you were challenged. Everyone is friendly and its really diverse, meaning you can get involved in lots of different things.

I’m really happy and pleased with my grades. I really loved my time at the college, I have also made lots of friends, it’s a really nice place to be, I don’t want to leave.

Lauren Piper, A Level student

My experience at the college has been really good, it’s been really rewarding, all the lecturers were so lovely and supportive there’s no way I could have done it without them - the teaching has been outstanding.
