Overview

Build essential knowledge of cybercrime and how to protect systems and data with this focused, single unit qualification.

This course introduces learners to the key concepts of cyber security, including common threats and the practical methods used to maintain digital security. It is designed as a flexible, bite-sized qualification that can be studied on its own or combined with other units to create a broader programme of learning.

Please contact adultlearning@hsdc.ac.uk for specific entry requirements.

To enrol on this Adult Learning course you must be aged 18 years or over.

Learners will explore both accidental and malicious security threats to IT systems and data, gaining insight into how vulnerabilities arise and how they can be addressed.

Once you have enrolled on the course, you will be allocated a tutor and assigned to your learning platform. An induction will follow and then you will be able to commence your course.

You will be assessed by submitting individual units of work and will receive feedback for each unit as you progress. There is no final exam.

On completion of this course, you will be ready for the workplace or have enhanced your existing work skills. You could progress on to another course or look at the Level 3 options.

The staff that will be supporting you through this course have sector expertise.

I overcame a couple of barriers by working really hard to get the top grades. My experience was really good, with the course and the lecturers, the residentials and activities, together it was all really good. I had really great teaching support, I could always go to the lecturers and speak to them if I needed to.

David Stenning, Public Services student

My experience at the college was enjoyable and productive, with thoroughly helpful people surrounding you, an excellent experience. I wasn’t expecting it to be as good as it was, with the work shop time and experience I had, it was a great two years preparing me for the next stage.

Edward Smith, BTEC student

My experience at the College was great, it’s very different to school, and I think it’s a good step to going to university. The support was amazing, I loved all of my teachers, they helped me through everything. The College is friendly and you will succeed.
