This qualification is designed to develop learners’ knowledge and understanding of how to safely administer, store, dispose of and process medicines. It provides essential insight into the principles of medication and the handling of prescriptions, ensuring learners are well-equipped to follow best practices in a healthcare or care setting.
Whether you’re currently working in a care setting or looking to enter the healthcare sector, this course provides a solid foundation in safe medicine practices. It also supports progression into further learning or training in health and social care roles.
There is an expectation that you would have a minimum of Level 1 English or skills at that level prior to enrolment.
Understand medication,
Understand how to administer and support individuals to self-administer medication,
Logistical aspects of handling medication,
Legislation, guidance and audit processes for medication in health and social care settings.
Once you have enrolled on the course, you will be allocated a tutor and assigned to your learning platform. An induction will follow and then you will be able to commence your course.
You will be assessed by submitting individual units of work and will receive feedback for each unit as you progress. There is no final exam.
On completion of this course, you will be ready for the workplace or have enhanced your existing work skills. You could progress on to any other distance learning course or look at the Level 3 options.
