Overview

You will gain an understanding of a range of counselling skills and have the opportunity to examine some of the various schools of thought/theoretical models associated with them that underpins the valuable work of counsellors. You will look at how to form a relationship with clients based on mutual trust and understanding. What’s more, you’ll be able to study online at your own pace, using a variety of engaging learning methods to keep studying fun. This qualification does not qualify learners to practise as a counsellor.

Ideally, you will have completed Level 2 Counselling skills or be able to demonstrate skills at this level. To enrol on this Adult Learning course you must be aged 19 years or over.

This online course is made up of the following units:

  1. Developing counselling skills
  2. Theoretical approaches in the use of counselling skills
  3. Working ethically with counselling skills
  4. Counselling skills and diversity
  5. Counselling skills and personal development

All learning will take place using Google Classroom and with the support of an HSDC assessor, who will be on hand for any queries and will mark your assessments and provide you with feedback. Study drop-in sessions will also be available.

You will be assessed through online assessments.

Learners who achieve this qualification could progress to Level 4 counselling qualifications.

My experience at the college has been really good, it’s been really rewarding, all the lecturers were so lovely and supportive there’s no way I could have done it without them - the teaching has been outstanding.

Lucie Brooks, A Level student

"I am delighted with my results and am really looking forward to studying Law at Oxford University. I really enjoyed my time at HSDC Alton and I really appreciate all the help and support from my fantastic teachers, without whom I wouldn't have got my place at Oxford."

Catherine Goldie, HSDC Alton A Level Student

Everyone at the College was really helpful, and there’s lots of facilities, meaning it’s very easy to get your work done on time, and get good grades. The teaching and support was excellent, they were always on top of it, and made sure you got work done on time and you were challenged. Everyone is friendly and its really diverse, meaning you can get involved in lots of different things.
