Overview

This course will enable you to develop your beauty skills to a more advanced level and introduce new creative techniques to expand and improve your existing skill set. You’ll cover a broad range of topics including working with colleagues within the beauty business, client care and communication, forming good relationships and working effectively with colleagues, anatomy and physiology, hygiene, health and safety practices, promoting and selling products and services to clients. The more practical elements include body massage treatments, facial electrotherapy treatments, body electrotherapy treatments, massage using preblended aromatherapy oils, micro-dermabrasion treatments and stone therapy massage. Dress code is very important so youll need to be in full uniform at all times and carry your kit to all practical classes.

Level 2 Diploma/Technical Certificate in Beauty Therapy at a Merit grade or higher. All students will be expected to comply with the beauty industry standards of dress code; this applies to both theory and practical lessons. Jewellery and facial piercings are not acceptable and must be removed before entering classes.

You will carry out a variety of practical treatments within the College salon on paying clients to build your confidence and competency ready for industry. There will be separate theory, anatomy and physiology lessons to develop your knowledge and understanding of all aspects of Beauty Therapy. These lessons will prepare you for your online mandatory exams and assignments.

After a period of skill training within your practical sessions, you will be assessed on your competency while performing your practical skills on a range of clients within block sessions at intervals throughout the academic year. Classes will cover a considerable amount of anatomy and physiology, which will prepare you for the written mandatory exams used to test your knowledge and understanding of the units.

This course requires you to purchase a uniform and kit and we include trips to enhance your learning and experience of industry. All of these costs will be explained at interview and students in receipt of financial assistance will be supported with these costs.

On successful completion, the Level 3 Diploma in Beauty Therapy prepares students to work in industry in a variety of venues such as salons, health spas and cruise liners.
