This course covers a range of topics relating to those wanting to gain a Level 2 qualification in health and social care. It will help prepare you for employment in health or social care settings within a supporting role such as care support worker or health care support assistant in adult residential settings, community or primary care health environments, domiciliary services, supported living, daycare services or community-based employment.
You must have a genuine interest in working with people and have a caring personality. You must have achieved 4 GCSEs at grade 3 or above including English Language and Mathematics. Students progressing from an academic Level 1 course may also be considered for this programme. You must have Enhanced DBS clearance as you will be working with vulnerable adults and children during your placements.

– Equality, Diversity and Rights in Health and Social Care
– Human Growth and Development
– Safeguarding and Protection in Health and Social Care
– Communication in Health and Social Care
– Working in Health and Social Care
– Nutrition in Health and Social Care
– Infection Prevention and Control in Health and Social Care
You will learn through a range of theorybased methods, including discussion, case studies, academic posters, presentations, roleplay, written assignments and leaflet production. All coursework and assessments are produced, completed and assessed with the use of Google Classroom.
The work is internally assessed which is carried out via assignment-based units, which will be marked online by individual unit lecturers. All units are graded to A* to D depending on the quality of work produced and the criteria achieved.
Completion of this course will help prepare you for employment in health or social care settings within a supporting role, for example, care support workers in adult residential settings, health care support assistants in the community or primary care health environments, care support workers in domiciliary services, supported living or daycare services and community-based support workers, and other health care areas. It may, with further childcare training, open opportunities within a childcare profession.
Alternatively, successful students might want to progress to other training and vocational courses; for example, a Level 3 Health & Social Care Extended Diploma at HSDC.
